Ceremony honours International Olympiad medal winners
A ceremony was held in Hanoi on November 3 to honour International Olympiad medal winners and outstanding students with top results on the 2014 university entrance exam.

The honoured students include 35 International Olympiad medal winners, five winners in scientific and technical contests. and 10 top ranking students in the 2014 university entrance examination.
At the event, 11 winners received Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung’s certificates of merit while 24 others received certificates of merit from the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET). Twenty officers and teachers who lead national teams at international and regional Olympiad contests were also granted MOET certificates.
Addressing the gathering, Politburo member and President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF), Nguyen Thien Nhan, praised the students’ achievements, saying that their praiseworthy academic results have made the country better understood internationally. He spoke highly of the willpower of top ranking students on the university entrance examination, particularly those from disadvantaged families, and the great contributions of schools and teachers.
Nhan urged Party committees, authorities, VFF branches, organisations, the education and training sector, and the public to pay further attention to education, creating better conditions for students to achieve better academic results.
He expressed his belief that with the consensus of the whole country, the comprehensive and fundamental renewal of education and training would be successful.
