Works on show include over 120 maps, royal documents formulated under Nguyen dynasty (1802 -1945), and documentary pictures asserting Vietnam’s sovereignty over its sea, islands and the two archipelagoes.

According to Vice Chairman of Soc Trang provincial People’s Committee Lam Van Man, the exhibits are among historical and legal evidences collected inside and outside the country, which have showed that Vietnam had established and exerted its national sovereignty over Truong Sa and Hoang Sa as of the 16th century.

Vietnamese feudal states also exercised sovereignty over the archipelagoes in a peaceful and continuous manner in accordance with international law.

The week-long exhibition was held by the Ministry of Information and Communications and the provincial People’s Committee to raise a strong sense of solidarity and responsibility in protecting national sovereignty over sea and islands.

The exhibition has toured other cities and provinces across the country to help international friends, including Chinese people, understand Vietnamese people’s aspiration for peace and security as well as their strong will and determination to safeguard their motherland.
