The President made the remark at a reception in Hanoi on January 7 for 102 recipients of the ‘Sao Thang Gieng’ (January Star) award and the ‘Outstanding Student’ movement.
Describing the recipients as talents of the country, President Sang urged them to make further contributions to the national development.
He hailed the Vietnam Students’ Association (VSA) for organising the ‘Outstanding Students’ movement, affirming that the activity has created a good environment for students nationwide to grade themselves.
The State leader urged the association to duplicate exemplary models of the movement to facilitate high-quality human resources for the country’s industrialisation and modernisation.
The association should also collect opinions and suggestions of its members and foster co-ordination with relevant ministries and sectors to remove any difficulties for the students and encourage motivation among them, he added.
The ‘Outstanding Students’ movement was first launched by the VSA in 2009 with the aim of encouraging students to exert themselves to stand out in five facets: culture, study, physical strength, voluntary activities, and integration ability.
Meanwhile, the ‘Sao Thang Gieng’ award honours students who have excellent performance in studying and positive participation in activities launched by the VSA and the Youth Union.
