Project supporting wind power use approved

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has approved a project on supports for wind power use, which will be implemented within four years with a total investment of EUR7 million from the German Government’s non-refundable official development assistant.

The project aims to improve conditions of the legal framework for developing, boosting and expanding the development scale of wind power in Vietnam, contributing to realising the national target on promoting renewable energy and green growth in the country.

In particular, the project will support State agencies to collect a sufficient database and suggest projects when making decisions in order to improve the planning process and the legal framework for wind power development in Vietnam.
It will also enhance capabilities of State agencies from the central to local levels and the private sector in order to help wind power develop rapidly.

In addition, technological co-operation and studies will be implemented to create opportunities to localise wind power equipment and raise their value.
