The event attracted the participation of more than 5,000 volunteers from the city’s universities and colleges.
A number of projects will be carried out from now until Earth Hour. They include Cycling for the Environment, 20 seconds for Earth Hour, Green Energy, Green Sprouts for Earth, and 60+ Destination.
All the activities aim to raise public awareness of energy saving and the negative impacts caused by climate change.
The 2015 Earth Hour Campaign is scheduled to take place from 8.30pm to 9.30pm on March 28.
The 2015 Earth Hour will be organised by the Ministry of Industry and Trade with the technical support of the World Wildlife Fund (WFF) and the Embassy of Denmark in Vietnam.
Vietnam saved 431,000 kWh of electricity, equivalent to around VND650 million (US$30,550) thanks to citizens turning off unnecessary lights and electrical equipment from 8.30 to 9.30pm on March 29, during the 2014 Earth Hour campaign.
