Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam made the statement at a ceremony held in Hanoi on May 14 to mark the 20th anniversary of the Vietnam-Belgium Masters Program.
The government official praised the programme as a vivid illustration of practical and effective co-operation between Vietnam and Belgium, expressing his hope for more similar training models to improve Vietnam’s human resources for the country’s sustainable development.
He pointed out that the key to the success of these joint programmes is the prestige of the participating educational facilities as well as the attention and care of governments of the host and the inviting countries.
He urged the Ministry of Education and Training to encourage Vietnam’s universities to boost educational co-ordination with prestigious universities in the world for the benefit of learners and the quality of Vietnam’s education.
Established in 1995 under the support of the Vietnamese Government and the French-speaking Belgian community, the programme is considered a successful joint training programme in Vietnam between Vietnam’s National Economics University and the Brussels Liberation University.
More than 2,200 masters students have graduated from the programme with many of them holding important positions in agencies, organisations and business in Vietnam.
