Vietnam to have three representatives at World Microsoft Office contest

The closing and awards ceremony of the 2015 Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship (MOSWC) in Vietnam was held in Hanoi on June 16.

The competition in Vietnam was jointly held by the Ministry of Education and Training, IIG Vietnam, Viettel Telecom Portal, and Tuoi Tre (Youth) Newspaper.

This year's event attracted 1,500 contestants from 260 teams across the country. Tran Minh Tien from the Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City won a gold medal in the Microsoft Word category.

Pham Truong Giang from the Foreign Trade University (FTU) in Hanoi won a gold medal in the Microsoft Excel category whilst the gold medal in the Microsoft PowerPoint category went to Nguyen Thi Hien Gia, also from the FTU, Hanoi.

The three winners will represent Vietnam to participate in the 2015 Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship, scheduled to be held in Dallas, Texas, the US from August 9-12.

MOSWC is the world’s biggest office IT literacy competition organised annually by Certiport, for young people aged 13 to 22 around the world to compete in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint.

The competition is a place for Vietnamese youth to show their passion and talents in office IT.

In 2014, Vietnam won two bronzes medals at the MOSWC 2014, held in California, the US.
