14 Vietnamese candidates to attend World Skills Competition in Brazil
During the 43rd World Skills Competition in Sao Paulo city, Brazil on August 5th-17th, the 14-candidate Vietnamese delegation will participate in 13 out of 50 skills.

The skills that the Vietnamese delegates will compete comprising welding, IT software solutions, carpentry, plumbing, electro-mechanics, web designing, automobile technology, CNC (numerically controlled computer), machine-operating, moulding, plastic-moulding techniques, mechanical engineering design-CAD, and brick-laying.
Mr. Duong Duc Lan, Head of the General Directorate of Vocational Training (GDVT) under the Ministry of Labour, War-Invalids and Social Affairs and head of the Vietnamese delegation said that this is the 5th time Vietnam has attended the World Skills Competition. Despite winning many prizes at the ASEAN Skills Competitions, Vietnam has not yet managed to achieve a medal on the world stage.
"This year is the first year the GDVT has coordinated with Ministries, sectors, vocational and educational institutions and enterprises to train the candidates. Therefore, they had chance to access to modern technology, and directly learn experiences from foreigners who pocketed medals at the previous World Skills Competitions as well. This innovation empowers the Vietnamese delegation to get the first medal in the arena of skills, pinnacle technology of the world," added Mr. Duong Duc Lan.
According to the GDVT, the 43rd World Skill Competition is scheduled for 50 competing categories, including 46 official and four performance skills and attracts 1,192 candidates from 64 nations and territories around the world.
