IOI 2015 a successful one for Vietnam

All four Vietnamese students won medals – one gold and three silvers – at the 27th International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI 2015) in Kazakhstan, making the contest the most successful for Vietnam in the last 15 years, according to the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET).

The gold medal went to Pham Van Hanh, a 12th grader from the gifted high school under the University of Natural Sciences, part the Hanoi-based National University.

The remaining silver medals were secured by Pham Duc Nhat Minh (11th grade), Nguyen Viet Dung (12th grade) and Nguyen Tien Trung Kien (12th grade) from the same high school as Hanh.

With this result, the Vietnamese team ended up in eighth position among 84 participating delegations and ranked first in the Southeast Asian region.

The MOET will host a ceremony at the Noi Bai International Airport on August 3 to receive the Vietnam IOI team and present the minister’s certificates of merit to the four medalists.
