Workshop on building and operating a product quality management system

On November 16, Tien Giang Department of Science and Technology in collaboration with Deparment of Intellectual Property and European Trade Policy and Investment Support Project has just organized a workshop on building and operating  a product quality management system which is registered geographical indications protected in Europe.

At the workshop, participants were introduced an overview of the quality certification system products of Vietnam, the current state management system of geographical indications and quality control of product with geographical indications local management, the demand for construction and operation of controling system for product quality.

Based on the recommendation of the Department of Intellectual Property, Hoa Loc mango is one of many products including Lang Son star aniseed Lang Son, Buon Me Thuot coffee, Binh Thuan dragon fruit supported protection registration of geographical indications in Europe with the help of European Trade Policy and Investment Support Project.

Hoa Loc mango was granted the registration certificate of geographical indications on September 3, 2009 by Department of Intellectual Property. The geographical area consists of 13 communes in Cai Be district, Tien Giang province. It is reported that the province has over 6,600 hectares planted mango, which is most mustered in Cai Be district with nearly 4,000 hectares.

The workshop aimed at finding solutions to develop management systems Hoa Loc geographical indication registration and promote geographical indication of local to European market.
