The Tokyo Vietnam Medical University on December 3 announced the government decision on the establishment of the university, a wholly foreign-invested university.
The Tokyo Vietnam Medical University is a private university invested by Japan’s Waseda Health Sciences Education Corporation at the Ecopark Urban Area in the northern province of Hung Yen.
Construction of the university is under way on a total area of 3ha with an initial investment of around US$20 million; it is expected to be completed in March 2016.
The university is scheduled to enrol its first students in June 2016 and begin its first training courses in September 2016.
The university will employ 80 domestic and foreign lecturers to teach approximately 1,200 students per year. It will provide four-year and three-year degree programmes in the areas of nursing, rehabilitation nursing, physical therapy, orthotics and prosthetics, and medical testing among others.
Rector of the Tokyo Vietnam Medical University Kusumi Mari said the university has a mission to train medical staff with high professional skills and a compassionate nature, which are willing to work around the world, bringing health and happiness to the community.
