Prime minister approves sewage treatment project in Binh Duong

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on March 1 approved the Di An wastewater treatment project in the southern province of Binh Duong worth a total of US$115.2 million.

The project is to be financed by the World Bank, which will provide US$92.2 million, along with counterpart funding of US$23 million to come from the People’s Committee of Binh Duong.

The project consists of three main components, namely collecting and treating wastewater in Di An town, improving the drainage system in Di An town, in addition to technical and institutional assistance for Binh Duong province, Di An town and Binh Duong Water Supply and Drainage Company.

The project is designed to strengthen control over water pollution, streamline water usage in the Dong Nai river basin and ensure stable water supply for the southern key economic zone, which includes Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Dong Nai and Ba Ria-Vung Tau provinces.
