The mission will last for one week and will provide free medical checks, dental treatments, and cataract surgeries in Nghi Thuan village, Nghi Loc district of Central Nghe An province.
AusViet Charity Foundation has chosen this area as a part of its yearly plan. This coastal village is considered one of the poorest areas that frequently suffered from monsoon, typhoon and environmental hardship. People in that village especially children are suffered from many ailments but cannot afford treatments despite the help and supports of local government and charities. However, it has yet been visited by any international medical team.
It is a non-profit charity organisation registered with Australian Charity and non-profit commission and is approved for tax exemptions and deductibility by Australian Taxation Office. It also is approved by Vietnamese authority to operate as an international non-government organisation to operate in Vietnam.
Accordingly, as many as 34 volunteers from many parts of Australia will work with 30 local health professional volunteers to provide 1,000 general medical checks, 1,000 dental treatments and 70 cataract operations from July 31st to August 4th, 2016.
The financial source (AUD100,000) is generously donated by Australian community especially the Vietnamese community in Australia. Medicines, medical and dental supplies are donated by Australian companies to use in this mission. The Australian volunteers, in addition, contribute their services free of charge and also meet their own travel and accommodation expenses.
