Vietnam wins two gold medals at IPhO 2016
According to the Department of Educational Testing and Accreditation under the Ministry of Education and Training, Vietnamese students have won five medals, including two golds, at the International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) 2016.
IPhO 2016 has been held in Zurich University, Switzerland, with the participation of 398 students from 87 countries and territories. Among those, 215 students won medals.

The two gold medalists were Dinh Thi Huong Thao, a 12th grader from Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted in the Red River Delta province of Nam Dinh, and 11th grader Nguyen The Quynh from Vo Nguyen Giap high school for the gifted in the central province of Quang Binh.
Thao was also honoured as the “Best Female Asian Pacific Participant” by the Association of Asia-Pacific Physics Societies.
Nguyen Quang Nam from the Vietnam National University of Education and Pham Quang Minh from the Hanoi-Amsterdam school for the gifted seized silver medals.
Meanwhile, Pham Ngoc Nam, Thao’s schoolmate, brought home a bronze medal.
