Second batch of SHARE scholarship is open for application
The European Union (EU) support to higher education in the ASEAN region (SHARE) program has announced opening for 2nd batch of scholarships.
As student mobility plays an important role in the further development of higher education in ASEAN, the EU and ASEAN have teamed up to announce the opening of their second batch of scholarship for January-July 2017 intake. Deadline is November 11th, 2016.
Undergraduate students in ASEAN countries interested in studying one semester in another ASEAN country are invited to apply for one of the 125 full scholarships available.
According to a press release issued on September 5th, the scholarship is designed to encourage ASEAN student mobility and to test the application of an ASEAN-wide credit transfer systems.
“This special partnership with the European Union allows us to empower talented students, to pursue their chosen careers, and exchange invaluable insights and experience. An effective regional higher education system centered on an ASEAN scholarship scheme for students is a key element in promoting people connectivity and supports integration efforts in ASEAN", said Mr. Vongthep Arthakaivalvatee, ASEAN Deputy Secretary General for the ASEAN socio-cultural community.
SHARE scholarship gives full financial support, thus helping students to get first-hand experience on living abroad.

Millions of students from Europe, as well as countries world-wide, have benefited from the scheme not only through their academic qualifications but also by experiencing Europe on a personal level. This has had a profound impact on community-building in Europe", shared EU Ambassador to ASEAN Fransisco Fontanhe.
