Vietnam successfully produces Nano complex for cancer treatment
Scientists from the Institute of Material Science (IMS) under the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology have successfully produced the Nano FGC complex, an advanced material to produce medicine for cancer treatment and prevention, a seminar heard in Hanoi on October 11.

According to Dr. Ha Phuong Thu from the IMS, yellow turmeric, scientifically known as Curcuma longa, has long been used as a traditional cure, however, it brings about low efficiency as curcumin is difficult to dissolve in water, due to its low absorption rate.
Starting from that shortcoming, Thu and her colleagues worked to apply nano technology to produce Nano FGC complex, utilising natural materials found in Vietnam.
Nano FGC complex contains three main active elements - Curcumin from Curcuma Longa, Fucoidan from seaweed and Saponin NotoGingseng from NotoGingseng.
The product has been tested on cancer cells of breast, lung, liver and throat cancers, and have shown encouraging results in reducing the size of tumours, inhibiting the development of cancel cells, and boosting some immune cells.
At the seminar, the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology transferred the Nano FGC complex to the CVI Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic Company to produce CumarGold Kare for cancer patients.
