Satellite hospital contributes to improving effective treatment

On March 15, Tien Giang provincial People's Committee held a conference to review the implementation of the satellite hospital project in the phase 1 (2013-2016), and the phase 2 (2017-2020). Deputy Chairman of Tien Giang provincial People's Committee Tran Thanh Duc presided over the conference.

From 2013, Tien Giang has developed a plan and implemented a satellite hospital program, satellite deparment in the period 2013-2020. Accordingly, Tien Giang Obstetric hospital is a satellite hospital of Tu Du Obstetric Hospital and Cardiovascular deparment as well as Orthopedic Traumatology deparment of Tien Giang general Hospital are the satellite department of Ho Chi Minh city Cho Ray Hospital.

The implementation of the satellite hospital, satellite deparment project in Tien Giang in phase 1 has brought positive effect, improving the quality of diagnosis and treatment. Department of Cardiovascular and Orthopedic Traumatology deparment received nine technology transfer packages, applying 997 cases. Tien Giang Obstetric Hospital received four technology transfer packages, performing 3,140 patients. Many specialized techniques are applied such as pacemaker, hip replacement, knee arthroscopy, knee replacement, cutting uterine abdominal incision, etc... and reducing thousands of cases to be refered as well as reducing the cost of treatment and travel.

Deputy Chairman of Tien Giang provincial People's Committee Tran Thanh Duc highly appreciated the result of effective coordination between Tu Du Obstetric Hospital and Ho Chi Minh city Cho Ray Hospital in implementing the project in Tien Giang province. At the same time, he suggested that Tien Giang health sector should continue to attach special importance to the training of human resources and equipment, proficient application of information technology, concerning the transfer and flexible technical division for downstream. Completing the project is one of the important solutions implemented by the Ministry of Health with the aim of improving the quality of examination and treatment for lower levels, reducing overcrowding in central hospitals. Tien Giang provincial People's Committee will continue to fully commit to the Ministry of Health to support the implementation of the project in the coming time.

On this occasion, Tien Giang provincial People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 4 collectives and 38 individuals from Tu Du Obstetric Hospital and Ho Chi Minh city Cho Ray Hospital with excellent achievements in supporting the implementation of the satellite hospital project in phase 1 at Tien Giang province.
