Tien Giang province marks 25th anniversary of summer voluntary movement

ABO - On September 4, the Steering Committee of Voluntary Youth Campaign of Tien Giang province organized a program to mark 25th anniversary of voluntary movement of Tien Giang (1994-2019), 20 years of the summer youth voluntary campaigns (2000 - 2019).

This event saw an attendance of Secretary of the Vietnam Communist Youth Union Doan Bui Quang Huy; Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan; with nearly 1,000 union members and youth.

Through 25 years, with the campaign "Light of Summer Culture", the Voluntary Youth movement in Tien Giang province has spread and created positive social effects; at the same time, contributing significantly to the change of rural and urban areas.

Specifically, the union members and youth contributed over 450,000 workdays; implementing more than 22,000 youth works; donating nearly 47,000 units of blood; upgrading and repairing over 350,000 km of rural roads; building over 4,800 houses of kindness, red scarf house, friendship house, etc...

Speaking at the program, comrade Pham Anh Tuan proposed the Steering Committee at all levels to further strengthen the revolutionary, ethical, lifestyle and cultural ideal education for young people, focusing on specific action movements , thereby arousing the spirit of volunteerism, willingness to devote, commitment, for the sake of the collective, for the community and society.

In addition, the Steering Committees at all levels need to continue renewing the content, method of organization, direction, initiative and readiness to bring the youth volunteers to work in remote and disadvantaged areas.

On this occasion, the Central Youth Union, the provincial People's Committee and the provincial Youth Union awarded many certificates of merit to collectives and individuals who achieved many achievements in 25 years of implementing the Youth Volunteer movement and Summer Volunteer Youth campaign 2019.
Mr. Pham Anh Tuan presented gifts of gratitude to collectives and individuals for their many contributions to the Youth Volunteer movement over the past time.

* On the same day, the provincial Steering Committee held a seminar with the theme "Solutions to improve the quality of voluntary Youth movement" of Tien Giang province in 2019.

At the seminar, the delegates focused on discussing the current situation of the Voluntary Youth movement, the results and orientation of the Youth Volunteer movement; effective models, good practices, and volunteering practices; development solutions to improve the quality of sustainable, effective and voluntary youth activities, etc…
