Vietnamese professor awarded French honour order
ABO/NDO – Professor Chau Van Minh, Member of the Party Central Committee and President of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) was presented the French State’s National Order of the Legion of Honour, at a ceremony in Hanoi on April 2.
At the ceremony, French Ambassador to Vietnam Nicolas Warnery granted the Order of the Legion of Honour to Professor Minh.
He also emphasised that the Legion of Honour is France’s most noble award for individuals and organisations who have made extraordinary contributions to France as well as its relations with other countries.

The order aims to honour the professor’s contributions to promoting cooperation in science, technology, education and training between Vietnam and France.
In the capacity as President of the VAST, Professor Minh has supported and enhanced cooperation, and the training and transfer of several key technologies from the 21st century between French national research agencies and units directly under the VAST.
During the tenure of his presidency, the VAST and its French partners have implemented nearly 200 cooperative projects and trained hundreds of doctors and masters.
Notably, Professor Chau Van Minh actively negotiated and built a cooperation roadmap with French partners to effectively develop two national projects supported by French Government including the Earth observation satellite (VNRED-Sat1) and the construction and development of the Hanoi Science and Technology University (or Vietnam – France University).
