World-leading scientists attend conference on topological quantum electrons in Quy Nhon
ABO/NDO – A conference on Topological Quantum Electrons Interacting In-person opened at the International Centre for Interdisciplinary Science and Education in Quy Nhon city, Binh Dinh province on July 11, gathering hundreds of Vietnamese and foreign scientists as well as students from five provinces in Vietnam’s Central Highlands.
Speaking at the event, Prof Tran Thanh Van, President of the ‘Rencontres du Viet Nam’ (Meeting Vietnam) organisation, said that the event was the first conference of the International Year of Basic Science for Sustainable Development, which was proclaimed by the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly in January 2022.
He expressed his hope that the conference will help to form new scientific ideas and spread the love of science among young people.

For his part, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Bui The Duy assessed that the conference provides an opportunity for students who have a passion for science to broaden their knowledge and learn from world-famous scientists and professors.
The week-long conference brings together theorists and experimentalists working in the field of electronic properties of quantum materials.
It will highlight recent developments in the study of equilibrium and non-equilibrium properties of novel quantum materials such as topological states of matter, twisted bilayer systems, magnetic materials, and TMDs (transition metals dichalcogenides), among others.
The programme also included a one-day summer school for junior participants before the opening of the conference to prepare them for the more advanced research talks to come.
