Along with other industries, the shipbuilding industry in Tien Giang province has been quite developed with many small and large shipyards.

Director of Dong Tam shipbuilding and renovation company (Rach Gam cooperative), one of the major inland vessels in the Mekong river Delta, Nguyen Duc Hung, said: In 2016, company has completed and delivered to customers 20 ships with a load of 1,000-3,000 tons, creating jobs for about 100-250 workers depending on the time.

According to Hung, thanks for skilled workforce and the central location of the Mekong river Delta, the company receives many new shipbuilding contracts annually from provinces in the region such as Ben Tre province, Ca Mau province, etc...

* Time to complete these big ships is 5-6 months.

* Depending on the skill, workers will be paid from 250 to 300 thousand VND per day.

* Ship builders must be careful to avoid to be scalded by the spark.

* Before being installed on the side of the ship, the inside of the hull are painted with lightning protection.

* Workers must weld many welds on high.

* Workers check the balance of the hull racks, to timely adjust
