Tien Giang province calls for investment to expand the Dong Thap Muoi Ecological Reserve
ABO - The Tien Giang provincial People's Committee is calling for investment to expand the Dong Thap Muoi Ecological Reserve as a priority including area and diversified activities to conserve valuable and rare flora and fauna species, ecological environment protection in combination with tourism development.
The Reserve has a total area of nearly 107 hectares, including a central pond of about 1 hectare; the remaining area is the land for growing and breeding plants and animals that need conservation. The Reserve is now managing 70 plant species typical of wetlands ecological area and 8 species of fish, 19 species of reptiles, 16 species of mammals and 36 species of birds inclduding many rare and endangered bird species.
In order to protect ecology in the context of climate change, Tien Giang province is calling for investment to expand the area of the reserve by 17 hectares, including an area of 120 hectares with capital requirements of over VND143 billion; the second phase with an area of 124 hectares with capital needs over VND 132 billion.

Firstly, the Tien Giang provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to coordinate with concerned agencies to work out the roadmap, complete the project dossier in oder to call for investment to expand Dong Thap ecological reserve in the first phase in 2019.
