The Deputy PM, FM expressed his pleasure at positive and practical developments of the relations in various fields between Viet Nam and the US since the two countries normalized the bilateral ties in 1995.
Both sides established the comprehensive partnership during State President Truong Tan Sang’s visit to the US in July 2013.
Deputy PM, FM Minh asked Mr. Corker and the US Congress to support and boost the exchange of delegations and economic, trade and investment links between the two countries.
Senator Corker said the enhancement of the bilateral relations will not only benefit the two countries but also contribute to peace and stability in the region.
He voiced his support for accelerated implementation of the comprehensive partnership and early conclusion of the Trans-Pacific Partnership talks in a bid to renew economic development model.
Both sides took the occasion to exchange views on regional and international issues of common concern.
The Senator expressed his concern over the situations on the East Sea recently, especially China’s illegal placement of the drilling rig in Viet Nam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf.
All sovereignty issues must be settled through peaceful measures on the basis of international law, including the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.
