Viet Nam to host ASEAN sea forum this year

Viet Nam will host ASEAN sea forum and ASEAN sea forum plus at the end of August this year, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

East Sea issue continues to be a key topic at a series of foreign miministerial meetings in Myanmar over the past three days.

ASEAN FMs issued a Joint Communiqué in which they expressed their serious concern over the recent developments that had increase tensions in the East Sea.

They reaffirmed their commitments to the principles stipulated in the 2012 ASEAN’s Six-point Principles on the East Sea, the 2012 Joint Statement of the 15th ASEAN-China Summit on the 10th Anniversary of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea, and the Statement on the current developments in the East Sea issued by ASEAN FMs on May 10, 2014.

The ASEAN FMs further stressed the necessity to conclude a Code of Conduct on the East Sea in order to maintain peace, stability, maritime security and safety in the region.
