The centre is located in Phuc Dong ward, Long Bien district, Hanoi with a total investment of over VND200 billion (US$9.4 million). When completed, the project will serve as a centre to direct, manage and co-ordinate search and rescue and disaster response operations.

According to the National Committee for Search and Rescue, over 70% of the construction has been completed.

The project is aimed at modernising equipment and the management system for search and rescue work in Vietnam - an important and urgent task in recent times.

The Deputy PM praised the project's management board, contractors and investors for ensuring the quality and progress of the project. He also gave comments on the settlement of finance and investment issues to provide necessary equipment for the centre.
