Promoting synchronous agricultural restructuring
Giving comments regarding agricultural restructuring, voter Ho Van Tuoi from Soc Trang city in Soc Trang province said that the Government has aggressively directed the implementation of agricultural sector restructuring to reorganise production, promote growth and sustainable agriculture development. However, in Soc Trang provinces and in the Mekong River Delta in general, performance of agricultural development plans was inconsistent and lacked cohesion, resulting in wastefulness of resources.
Tuoi suggested that the Government should direct the building of a synchronous programmes and policies and strengthen support localities in the Mekong Delta to ensure effective development and implementation of agriculture restructuring programmes, with a focus on developing regional ties in the field and strengthening science and technology applications in agricultural production, particularly in seedling production suitable for conditions of each region.
Weak purchasing power
Drastic measures by the Government since 2013 have brought about practical efficiency in curbing inflation; however, purchasing power showed signs of decline while rising by only 6%, said voter Le Van Hai from Da Nang city.
In fact, most spending was focused on only a few items, such as cars, smart phones, and computers, while an increase in consumption of essential goods and made-in-Vietnam products was smaller volume.
The Government should implement consumption stimulus measures, strengthen implementation of the ‘Vietnamese give priority to using Vietnamese goods’ campaign, and offer preferential policies such as tax cuts, tax credits and subsidies to businesses, Hai suggested.
Environmental pollution in craft villages and rural areas
Voter Nguyen The Minh from Bac Giang city raised concerns about pollution in 33 craft villages in Bac Giang province and called for support from the Government to thoroughly solve the pollution.
Currently, spontaneous and unplanned development of craft villages has led to increasing environmental pollution in the locality, Minh said. In addition, environmental pollution in rural areas also tends to increase as household and agricultural waste is discharged directly to irrigation systems, lakes, dams, and rice paddies. Meanwhile, overflowing landfills have become a difficult issue for local authorities to handle.
