PM Dung made the statement during his working visit to Ba Son Corporation, a leading military shipbuilder, in Ho Chi Minh City on December 6.
He praised the corporation’s staff in promoting the tradition of Ba Son workers and the army to fulfil effectively entrusted tasks, including building six Molniya missile boats for the Navy.
The Government leader spoke highly of the corporation’s success in building and handing over the first two missile boats, affirming that Vietnam can master technologies and techniques of modern military ship building.
PM Dung reiterated the policy of enhancing the development of the defence industry, strengthening the army’s combat capacity, particularly the Navy and the Air Force, to meet current requirements, saying that to maintain peace and stability, the country should strengthen all aspects of politics, economics and defence.
PM Dung commented on the corporation’s suggestions, saying that the Government would create favourable conditions for moving Ba Son Factory out of Ho Chi Minh City’s central area and building a new modern military shipbuilding factory to meet current requirements.
Earlier, PM Dung and many other officials attended a ceremony kicking off the construction of the Ho Chi Minh City Children’s Hospital in Binh Chanh district.
The 1,000-bed hospital will be built on 93,181 square metres with a total VND4.5 trillion (US$211 million) investment in 18 months. When completed, the regionally-leveled hospital will help ease the overload at the Children’s Hospitals 1 and 2 in the city and provide hi-tech medical services and treatments for the southern people.
