Speaking at the session, NA Chairman Hung spoke highly of achievements made by the SAV in the past years, especially in helping the NA conduct its oversight and approval of local State budget plans and ministries and improve State budget management and use.

However, the NA also pointed out some shortcomings in audit activities and asked the sector to focus on improving audit approaches to accurately evaluate economic effectiveness and capacity in using public assets and finance.

The SAV should also frankly state wrongdoings, strengths and weaknesses of audited agencies and suggest appropriate amendments and supplements while enhancing capacity, performance and effectiveness, he added.

In 2014, the SAV has detected and suggested VND76,400 billion (over US$3.58 billion) worth of financial prosecutions, increasing the State budget’s collection of VND14,300 (over US$670 million) and decreasing the State budget’s expense of VND12,200 billion (over US$571 million).
