Politburo member and Minister of Public Security General Tran Dai Quang made the request at the 70th National Public Security Conference, which closed in Hanoi on December 31.
In 2014, the sector provided timely consultations for the Party and State on specific guidelines, policies and solutions to ensure security and social order, serving the country’s socio-economic development and foreign affairs, Quang said.
He noted that the police force mobilised its resources and measures to address complicated emergences on security and order, ensuring absolute safety for the country’s important events, activities of Party and State leader and international delegations visiting and working in Vietnam.
Quang urged the public security sector to enhance communication work; focus on preventing and combating psychological war, especially on the internet; and fight against wrong and distorted allegations from hostile and reactionary forces in a timely manner.
The police force also needs to strengthen inspection and battle against crimes, maintain traffic order and safety and focus on safeguarding the all-level Party Congress in 2015 and the 12th National Party Congress in early 2016, he added.
At the conference, General Quang launched the 2015 emulation movement for national security and called for solidarity from the police force’s officers and soldiers to overcome difficulties and challenges to fulfill their assigned tasks.
