Party Central Committee convenes 10th meeting

The tenth meeting of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC) opened in Hanoi on January 5.

In his opening remarks, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong stated contents which the delegates should focus on.

He stressed that the importance of the political report sent to the Party’s 12th Congress, which should be thoroughly studied, discussed and commented on, with a focus on the Congress’ theme and motto, the draft report’s structure and contents, particularly important matters and those which still have different ideas.

Each matter should be thouroughly analysed with evaluations on the implementation of Party resolutions with clarified results and shortcomings in order to continue comprehensive renewal to construct, protect and develop the country in a fast and sustainable manner, the Party leader said.

General Secretary Trong also stressed the importance of the socio-economic report, which should be thoroughly discussed with objective and scientific evaluations, and results in implementing the 2011-2015 socio-economic development plan with priorities in curbing the inflation, stabilising the macro-economy, and ensuring social welfare and reasonable growth.

He said that the socio-economic report should define specific targets and solutions for the 2016-2020 socio-economic development in line with the situation of the country, the region and the world. The targets and solutions should be feasible and practical to addressing arising socio-economic issues which directly affect the country’s fast and sustainable development, contributing to improving the people’s material and spiritual life.

Regarding a report on implementing the Party’s Charter, General Secreatry Trong asked the delegates to discuss achievements and shortcomings in the implementation, and necessary supplements and amendments raised by Party organisations at all levels.

The Party Chief requested the CPVCC study and give ideas on a report on the 30-year renewal process (1986-2016), a document for preparations and organisation of Party congress at all levels, as well as a report on the performance of the Politburo and the Secretariat in 2014 and their key tasks in 2015.

He also reiterated the sound meaning of the vote of confidence at the meeting to strengthen the Party and State leaders’ capabilities and respond to requirements of national construction and defence.

At the meeting, the CPVCC will also comment on the construction of human resource planning at the strategic level and introduce candidates for the Politburo and the Secretariat.

General Secretary Trong urged the delegates uphold their responsibilities to the Party, the people and the country to study, discuss thoroughly and give ideas on draft reports, as well as make decisions on important issues in the meeting’s schedule.

The meeting will continue until January 12.
