Speaking with the staff, the Party leader underlined the importance of this historical site as it helps visitors reflect on themselves and encourages them to follow the example of President Ho Chi Minh.

The general secretary recalled President Ho Chi Minh’s teachings on Party building, emphasising that the Party must do its best for the sake of the people, place the nation’s interests as the top priority, and Party members must not distance themselves from the people.

He added that those teachings are still relevant today, especially when the Party is engaged in the combat against moral deterioration and individualism, noting that a party attractive to the people in the past will not necessarily be loved and admired by the people of today and tomorrow if it is caught up in individualism.

The same day, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong also paid a Tet visit to Professor and labour hero Vu Khieu, who laid the foundations for the development of Vietnam’s social sciences as the first director of the Institute of Sociology.

With respect to the professor, the Party leader wished him good health and expressed hope that he would make further contributions to the nation and continue to be a pride of Hanoi’s intellectual circles and people.

Professor Vu Khieu, born in 1915, is the author of hundreds of works on a wide range of areas, such as philosophy, morality, culture, literature and arts. He has won many prestigious accolades including the Ho Chi Minh Award, the Labour Hero title and the Independence Order.
