Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 2015 Spring Press Festival in Hanoi on February 7, the Party chief said that publications on display at the event provided readers with an overview of the country’s development over the past year.
He also took the occasion to urge journalists to continue cultivating their professional skills to better fulfil responsibilities and duties of their work .
With 120 stalls showcasing publications of 65 press agencies nationwide, the 2015 Spring Press Festival is a vivid illustration of the vigorous development of the Vietnamese revolutionary press, said Party Central Committee member and Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists’ Association, Thuan Huu.
Chairman Huu, who is also Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan (The People’s) Newspaper, stressed that the four-day festival offered a good chance for participating agencies to introduce their latest technologies in press and communications while creating a venue for journalists from across the country to exchange vocational experiences.
After being displayed at the event, the publications will be presented to soldiers who are stationing in border areas, sea and island regions, and ethic groups in the remote areas.
Since it was first launched in 1991 as an initiative of the Vietnam Journalists’ Association, the Spring Press Festival has drawn much attention and interest of press agencies and the public.
This year’s event also includes seminars and talks about the press, arts performances and sporting events. The organising board will present prizes to newspapers and magazines with the best design, best cover, and best arrangement of their booths.
The festival will last until February 10 at Vietnam Exhibition and Fair Centre, 148 Giang Vo street, Ba Dinh district.
