Welcoming the spring of the Goat – 2015

Spring is coming, and green has returned to the forests withered by winter, and spread to the fields of central Vietnam that were ravaged by flooding last year. Spring brings new energy and belief to everyone, in every community, and opens new ways to overcome all hardships so that socio-economic development continues.

Belief is created from the will to overcome difficulties, brought about by the negative impacts of slow regional and global economic recovery. There were times when it was thought that socio-economic targets could hardly be achieved – especially mid-year, when China illegally deployed their oil rig in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf, generating concerns and worries. But in such a challenge, national patriotism, pride, willingness, self reliance and national unity shine. Those important factors have helped bring about encouraging results: political security and social law and order have been maintained; the macro-economy is stable; inflation is tamed; 13/14 macro economic targets were met or surpassed; the growth rate was almost 6%; social safety is secure; independence, territorial integrity and sovereignty were protected, and external relations recorded various achievements.

Achievements and shortcomings from the Year of the Horse serve as a reminder for us to make more innovative use of the previous lessons of building up the people’s strength through good policies and guidelines that are practical, so as to create social consensus. Together with the active leadership of the Party, and State in socio-economic development, the people want all sectors and localities to exert more effort in combating corruption, wastefulness and social evils.

In every moment in history, there are new issues, new advantages and difficulties. But once our will is strong, our hearts beat as one; there can be no obstacle on our way forward.

The spring of the Goat promises new developments, and new outcomes in all socio-economic aspect of our country.
