After reporting on the force’s emulation drive to the President, Rear Admiral Dinh Gia That, Commissar of the Vietnam People’s Navy (VPN) recalled the traditions of their predecessors who built and developed the force for the past 60 years.
He also reaffirmed the naval force’s determination to complete all entrusted tasks to keep peace and stability on the country’s territorial waters.
Speaking at the meeting, President Truong Tan Sang praised the force’s developments and contributions to the national struggle for independence as well as the national construction and defence cause.
Noting that the national revolutionary cause is still confronted with numerous challenges, the President urged the VPN to pay attention to building on and developing an elite modern Navy with a firm political stance.
Navy officials and soldiers should fully appreciate the strategic position of sea and islands in the cause of national construction and defence, focus on fostering patriotism, and keep in mind the Party and State’s stance in solving disputes over sea and island sovereignty, which is to take peaceful measures, secure a stable environment for economic development and maintain friendship with neighbouring countries, the President said.
