President Sang called on lawyers and their organisations to be fully aware of their important role in the formulation and perfection of laws and policies.
He said lawyers should continuously work to improve and further educate themselves so that they can contribute to foreign-related legal activities in order to protect the rights and interests of the Vietnamese State, individuals and enterprises.
VLA Chairman Nguyen Van Quyen reported to the president that over the past 60 years, the association has seen a steady rise in membership from across the country and has contributed to formulating laws covering almost all aspects of social life.
He added that lawyers have been active in making laws, protecting the legitimate rights and interests of citizens, and promoting the rule of law.
