Workshop praises Great Spring Victory of 1975

A national workshop highlighting the significance of the Great Spring Victory in 1975 was held in Ho Chi Minh City on April 3.

The workshop themed 'Great Spring Victory in 1975: the Power of National Reunification Will and Aspiration for Peace' was organised jointly by the Ministry of Defence, the Party Central Committee's Education and Communications Commission, and the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee to mark the 40th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification (April 30), as well as the 125th anniversary of the birthday of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19).

Addressing the ceremony, Politburo member and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Le Thanh Hai affirmed the everlasting value of the resistance war for national independence with the Great Spring Victory in 1975.

The Party, army and people of Saigon Gia Dinh (now Ho Chi Minh City) together with people from across the country made significant contributions to the glorious Spring Victory by their revolutionary spirit of resilience, solidarity, and creativity, he added.

Speeches presented at the workshop affirmed that the struggle for liberation was not only a decisive military victory, but was also a victory of the people, leaving an inspirational legacy of human dignity which resulted from the long and enduring struggle and great sacrifices of the Vietnamese people all over the country under the sound leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
