Press should contribute to strengthening national unity

The press should develop further to help shape public opinion, reinforce the national unity and contribute to the cause of national construction and development.

President Nhan congratulates Nhan Dan journalists and reporters at the Nhan Dan Headquarters

Politburo member and President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Nguyen Thien Nhan made the remarks during at his visits to several media agencies on June 20 on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day.

He paid visits to Vietnam Journalists' Association, Vietnam News Agency, Vietnam Television, Nhan Dan (People) Newspaper, Saigon Giai Phong (Liberated Saigon) Newspaper and Cuu chien binh (War Veterans) Newspaper.

President Nhan congratulated journalists and reporters on the anniversary of the Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, praising media agencies for actively disseminating information on Party and State policies and accurately reflecting the opinions of the people, being a bridge between the people and management agencies.

He affirmed the important role of the press during the past 90 years, saying that the press contributed to arousing solidarity and unifying people in the past resistance wars for national salvation and nowadays the press contributes to the national construction and defence.

While visiting Nhan Dan Newspaper, President Nhan emphasised the important role of the Party newspaper, adding that Nhan Dan is an orthodox newspaper, providing readers with reliable information.

On the occasion of the Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, many authorised agencies and localities across the country also held meetings and celebration activities to honour the press circle.
