The delegation of Tien Giang visits South Africa
On June 4, in the Pretoria capital, the delegation of Tien Giang province led by Mr Tran The Ngoc, the Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, has just had a working with representatives of the Ministry of Environment of South Africa. Two sides focused on the exchange of information, experience and seeked measures to strengthen cooperation in the field of environmental protection.

On behalf of Ministry of Environment of the South Africa, Director-General of Ministry of Environment Mark Gordon, has warmly welcomed the delegation. He said that the working visit of the Tien Giang leaders expressed wish and efforts of the Government and the local of two nations in strengthening bilateral cooperation more practical, in particular between Vietnam and South Africa. He stressed that South Africa and Vietnam have great potential to develop relations in many aspects, including protecting the environment field.
On behalf of the delegation, Mr Tran The Ngoc has introduced the new developments in many areas of Vietnam in general and in particular Tien Giang province, including Tien Giang province’s interest in the field of security management environmental protection.
According to Ngoc, the efforts of socio-economic development in many aspects of Tien Giang, the gateway to the Mekong Delta with 7 industrial zones and commercial economic activity over time, has raised the living standard for people in all aspects, but this created many challenges in the field of environmental protection.

Exchanging information and experiences on building specific management model waste collection, Ngoc expressed his wish to strengthen cooperation with the Ministry of Environment of South Africa, particularly in sharing in experience managing industrial waste and municipal waste, which has been considered to be the major concern of Tien Giang province as well as many locals in Viet Nam in the process of urban development, industrialization today.
Experts from the Ministry of Environment of South Africa introduced in very detail to the delegation about the achievements, policies, new models of central government as well as in many locals of South Africa in the management and protection the environment. With 95% of electricity is produced in coal-fired power plants, the South African has used top priority for the handling of waste in the form of gas, while many programs are adopting measures to handle effectively the waste solid, hazardous waste from mining activities, industrialization.
South African side expressed admiration and appreciation Viet Nam’s achievements in the economic development, especially in poverty reduction work, and desired to learn from Viet Nam's experience in this field.
Before South Africa's interest, Mr Ngoc also shared achievements and experiences of Vietnam in the field of poverty reduction, emphasizing the priority resources of the Party and the State in ensuring social security, improving the quality of people’s life, with the overall specefic for people in rural and remote areas.
At the same day, the delegation of Tien Giang province also visited and worked with officials, embassy staff and the Vietnames representative office in South Africa.
