Ceremony honours 100th birthday of late Party chief

A ceremony was organised in the northern province of Hung Yen on June 30 to celebrate the 100th birthday of late Party General Secretary Nguyen Van Linh.

The ceremony saw the presence of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong; former General Secretaries Le Kha Phieu and Nong Duc Manh; State President Truong Tan Sang; Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung; Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Sinh Hung; former NA Chairman Nguyen Van An and many other local and central officials.

After a special art performance praising the late leader’s life, career and homeland, as well as the socialist country, General Secretary Trong delivered a speech highlighting the revolutionary cause of the leader and his great contributions to the country’s Doi Moi (Renewal) process.

General Secretary Trong noted that the late General Secretary was a model for communists, encouraging them to follow the direction set by President Ho Chi Minh and the Party, enhancing the renewal process and Party building, realising Party resolutions, organising successfully Party congress at all levels and moving the country towards prosperity, democracy, equality and socialism.

Earlier, a delegation of representatives from the Party Central Committee, the NA, the State, the Government, the Vietnam Fatherland Front and Hung Yen province laid a floral wreath at late General Secretary’s monument in Hung Yen city’s centre and paid tribute to the leader’s contributions to the nation and the renewal process.

On the same day, a workshop on the late leader’s contributions to the Party’s revolution cause and the renewal process was organised while an art performance spotlighting the late Party chief’s contributions took place.

Many other art performances praising the late leader, the Party and President Ho Chi Minh were also held while a special concert was staged by the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra.
