Tien Giang People's Council opens session

Tien Giang People’s Council on July 15 opened its 13 working session, with a focus on outlining measures to reach its socio-economic development goals in the remaining months of 2015.

Opening the three-day session, Nguyen Van Danh, Chairman of the council, said the provincial attempted to overcome difficulties to accomplish its socio-economic development goals in the first half of the year, while ensuring public order.

The socio-economic development goals in the first half of the year has got many following positive results:
The growth rate of economy in the second quarter increased 8.5 %, compared with 8.1% in 2014; the total revenue reached 61.4%, compared with 21.1% in 2014; the structure of economy continued to transfer in the right direction, export turnover continued to keep a high growth rate; the society and culture sector continued to develop in stability as well as guarantee social welfares, etc…

However, there were still many difficulties and limitations such as agricultural production affected by disease and weather, prices of many agricultural products and seafood were not stable; the result of attracting investment was not achieved as expected; the type of trade as well as service developed slowly; the progress of a number of key projects in the province still wrere slow, etc ...

The above situation requires whole political system and people to spare no efforts to overcome difficulties and challenges, to implement successfully its socio-economic development goals in the remaining months of 2015, he noted.

During the function, deputies are scheduled to analyse the achievement the province reaped and point out causes of shortcomings and weaknesses, with the aim of completing tasks set for the city in the remainder of the year.

The session will conclude at today (July 17).
