Various activities held to remember fallen soldiers

Various activities have taken place across the country to pay tribute to fallen heroic soldiers as well as to express gratitude to contributors and their families for their fight for national independence and freedom, on the occasion of the 68th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day.

Politburo member and Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc visited wounded and sick soldiers under treatment at a nursing home in Duy Tien district of the northern province of Ha Nam on July 25.

After listening to war invalids’ requests and aspirations for themselves and their families, Deputy PM Phuc said the Party, State, and people will forever remember the great contributions and sacrifices made by the patriotic heroes, martyrs, and war invalids’.

On the occasion, the Deputy PM presented 20 televisions as gifts to wounded and sick soldiers at the centre.

On the same day, the Ho Chi Minh City Party's Committee and People’s Committee presented the State recognition title of Vietnamese Heroic Mother to 63 women in the province for their great contributions and sacrifices to the cause of national liberation, construction and defence.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the municipal People's Committee Le Hoang Quan stressed that the people of Vietnam always remember the heroic sacrifice and dedication of millions of martyrs, war invalids and Vietnamese Heroic Mothers.

To date 4,433 women in the city have been recognised with the title.

A memorial to 1,330 soldiers from Ha Nam, Nam Dinh and Ninh Binh provinces who sacrificed their lives for national independence has recenly been inaugurated at Truong Son National Cemetery in central Quang Tri province.

From July 24-27, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union at all levels has organised incense offering ceremonies at martyrs' cemeteries across the country to commemorate fallen soldiers and to express their gratitude to wounded soldiers, fallen soldiers’ families, Vietnamese heroic mothers and families which have made contributions to the national revolutionary cause.
