Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Guard High Command marks 40th anniversary

The President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Guard High Command held a ceremony in Hanoi on August 21 to celebrate its 40th anniversary (August 29), with the presence of Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan.

At the ceremony, the Vice President presented the National Protection Order, first class to the High Command for their outstanding achievements.
 
Over the past 40 years, under the leadership and guidance of the Party and State, particularly the Central Military Commission – Ministry of Defence, as well as with the enthusiastic support of the medical and technical experts the former Soviet Union (now Russia), officers and soldiers of the High Command have always strived to fulfill their task of protecting the remains of President Ho Chi Minh.
 
Since 2004, the command has been actively co-operating with scientific research institutions both at home and abroad in preserving the remains of President Ho Chi Minh as well as managing technical equipment systems and the architecture of the Mausoleum, Ba Dinh Square and the Monument to War Heroes and Martyrs.
 
The High Command has also ensured the security welcome and serve people from across the country and world to pay tribute to Uncle Ho, as well as promote the political and cultural significance of the Mausoleum, contributing to promoting the patriotic tradition and raising responsibility among Vietnamese people, particularly the younger generation, for building and protecting socialist Vietnam.
 
Addressing the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Defence Senior Lieutenant General Truong Quang Khanh asked the High Command to focus on political and ideological education among the officers, Party members and soldiers and raise their awareness of being loyal to the Party, the country and people.
 
The unit should strengthen co-operation with scientists in the country and from Russia in conducting medical and scientific research, said the Deputy Minister.
