Meeting salutes anniversary of Vietnam People's Police Force
A ceremony was held in Hanoi on August 18 to mark the 70th anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Police Force (1945-2015) and the 10th anual “All people protect national security” festival (2005-2015).

The ceremony was attended by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, former Party chiefs Le Kha Phieu and Nong Duc Manh, President Truong Tan Sang, former President Nguyen Minh Triet, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, former PM Phan Van Khai, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung, former NA Chairman Nguyen Van An, and other high-ranking Vietnamese Party and State officials.
Guests also included delegations from Cambodia, Laos, China, Russia, Bruneu, Singapore, Indonesia, Myanmar and Thailand.
The event opened with arts performances on Vietnam’s police force in the national struggle for liberation and reunification as well as in the country’s Doi Moi (Renewal) process.
In his remarks, President Truong Tan Sang extolled the role of the Vietnam People’s Police over its 70-year history, its absolute loyalty to the country and its people, Party and State, its ties to the people and readiness to protect, as well as its courage in fighting enemies and crimes.
The State leader asked the police to continue to protect national independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity; safeguard the Party, State, people and socialist state; ensure political security and social safety; and maintain peace for national development.
He went on to call on every officer and soldier working in the sector to continually improve their qualifications, promote solidarity, and follow Uncle Ho’s teachings for police forces.
He affirmed his belief that the police force would always be wholeheartedly loyal to the fatherland and people, Party and State, fulfill all tasks entrusted by the Party, State and People, and continue to safeguard the country.
On behalf of the Central Police Party Committee and the Ministry of Public Security (MPS), MPS Minister-General Tran Dai Quang expressed his deep thanks to the Party, State and people as well as Vietnamese heroic mothers and war martyrs who laid down their lives for national independence and freedom.
He also reaffirmed the force’s determination to continually build a People's Army that is strong, well-trained and modern, deserving the trust of the Party, State and people.
Speaking at the event, Lieutenant General Le Thanh, former Deputy General Director of the ministry's General Police Department, who comes from three-generations of working in the sector, paid tribute to his comrades who sacrificed their lives to protecting national security. He said he believed that today’s police would improve their performance and deserve the trust of the Party, State and people.
Representing younger generations, second lieutenant Truong Thi Thu Hien from Ha Tinh province expressed his pride and honour to stand in the ranks of the Vietnam People’s Police, vowing to make efforts to protect national security and maintain social order.
