Provincial-level Party congresses convene nationwide

The Party Committees of many provinces across the country convened their congress meetings for the 2015-2020 tenure on September 23.

 

The State leader urged Thanh Hoa to utilise its advantages and potential to develop the economy in a comprehensive manner; accelerate the implementation of strategic breakthroughs; restructure the economy combined with shifting growth models to improve its productivity, efficiency and competitiveness; and further improve the investment environment to attract capital flows from both domestic and foreign investors.

 

The province needs to boost the development of basic and hi-tech industries; continue to encourage investment in industries that attract workers in rural and mountainous areas; and accelerate the development of various types of services, particularly the services of sea transport and ports seeking to turn Thanh Hoa into one of the key regions of sea transport and ports in the northern central region, President Sang said.

 

He also asked Thanh Hoa to seek specific measures to promote tourism and make use of existing cultural heritages, historical sites and diverse landscapes throughout the province; as well as pay attention to building a strong and upright Party and political system; and continue strictly implementing the Politburo’s Directives No. 03 on studying and following the moral examples of President Ho Chi Minh.

 

* In his speech at the 16th congress of the Quang Tri provincial Party Committee, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung spoke highly of the outstanding achievements made by the provincial Party and local residents over the past tenure, while noting that Quang Tri’s socio-economic development is yet to match its inherent potential.

 

The goal of driving Quang Tri to meet the country’s average level of development by 2020 set at the congress was very practical and urgent, PM Dung emphasised, requesting that the provincial Party pay attention to several key issues in the coming tenure, including identifying economic development as its key task; combining economic development with cultural development and improving people’s living standards; ensuring social security and order; and enhancing Party building.

 

The congress heard a political report reviewing the province’s socio-economic performance over the past tenure and defining orientations, targets and solutions for the five years to come, which included boosting administrative reforms, improving the business environment, restructuring the economy associated with shifting growth models, and improving the competitiveness of the economy and quality of labour.

 

* On the same day, the Party Committees of Nam Dinh, Thai Binh, Ha Nam and Son La provinces also convened their congresses for the 2015-2020 tenure with respective attendance of Politburo members: Pham Quang Nghi, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee; Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly; Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Deputy Prime Minister; and General Tran Dai Quang, Minister of Public Security.
