Leaders attend provincial-level Party congresses

The Party Committees of numerous provinces across the country convened their congress meetings for the 2015-2020 tenure on October 13.

 

Over the past five years, the Party, army and people in the province have always upheld the spirit of unity, innovation and creativeness as well as promoted democracy and overcome all difficulties in order to make important and comprehensive achievements in all issues.

 

The province’s economic structure has moved towards sustainable development with an economic growth rate of 9.2% per year and an annual average GDP per capita of US$3,900. The industrial production, service and agricultural sectors have seen positive growth, particularly in increasing the proportion of the processing, manufacturing and service industries.

 

The province has made outstanding achievements in the campaign to build new rural areas with a decrease in the poverty rate from nearly 8% in 2010 to 1.55% in 2015. Additionally, its defence,security,social safety and order have been maintained.

 

Addressing the meeting, NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung noted that the Party Committee for the past tenure has had strategic vision and has been creative and active in their activities.

 

The NA Chairman asked Quang Ninh to focus on rapid and sustainable socio-economic development in order to become a service-industrial province, a high-quality tourism centre and one of the economic growth poles in the north by 2020.

 

It is necessary for the province to boost the use of science and technology in manufacturing and sustainable mining, prioritising high-tech and clean industry, as well as accelerate the restructuring of agricultural production associated with building new rural areas, said NA Chairman Hung.

 

The NA Chairman also urged Quang Ninh to continue to develop its tourism and cultural and social issues, focusing on development of the marine economy, in order to make tourism become a major industry.

 

On the same day, the southern province convened its 10th Party Congress for the 2015-2020 tenure, with the attendance of President of Vietnam Fatherland Front Nguyen Thien Nhan and former President Nguyen Minh Triet.

 

Over the recent years, Ben Tre has made efforts to overcome all difficulties and has made encouraging achievements, with GDP growth of 7.3% per year and the poverty rate decreasing to 5.5%.

 

The province has set a target of reaching an economic growth rate of 7-7.5% per year, an annual average GDP per capita of nearly VND49 million (US$2,188), total revenue of nearly VND3.2 trillion (US$142.9 million) and a poverty rate of 1.5% per year during the 2015-2020 term.

 

At the congress, VFF President Nhan appreciated the outstanding results in activities of the Ben Tre provincial Party Committee over the past tenure.

 

He also pointed out the shortcomings that the province’s Party and people need to overcome in order to successfully implement the targets and tasks for the 2015-2020 term.

 

The VFF President emphasised that in addition to agriculture, Ben Tre has a great potential for tourism development and the province should innovate tourism models, set specific plans and strengthen regional links.
