On morning of November 23, Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee and Vietnamese Fatherland Front Committee of Chau Thanh district solemnly organized the anniversary of 75th anniversary of Nam Ky Khoi Nghia (Southern Uprising, November 23, 1940-2015). Deputy Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Tran Thanh Duc attended this event.

At the ceremony, participants reviewed the heroic tradition of Southern Uprising took place in 75 years ago at Long Hung temple. On the dawn of November 23, 1940, the red flag with yellow star appeared for the first time in Long Hung temple in Long Hung commune, Chau Thanh district, My Tho province (now Long Hung commune, Chau Thanh district, Tien Giang province). With spears, sticks and canes, etc… local people stood together for destroying evil, exterminating cruel to make Southern Uprising.
Although Southern Uprising was suppressed, the red flag with yellow star always existed on heart of every revolutionary fighters to be the continuation and promotion of the patriotic tradition of the Vietnamese nation and people. The sacrifice of the people during the uprising contributed to creating the premise for the August Revolution in 1945 and the 30-year resistance war for the liberation and unification of the nation in 1975.
Proceeding with the heroic tradition of Southern Uprising, during past 75 years, Party Committee and people of Tien Giang province in general and Chau Thanh district as well as Long Hung commune in particular have brought into play the nation’s tradition to unite, to engrave difficulties, to overcom challenges, to build increasingly prosperous homeland.
