Hanoi People's Council urged to improve oversight activities
Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Sinh Hung has asked the Hanoi municipal People’s Council to continue improving its performance to fulfill the local agency’s role and such oversight activities as meeting with voters, and organising examinations and Q&A sessions.

Chairman Hung made the statement at the 14th session of the Hanoi municipal People’s Council in Hanoi on December 1.
He praised the city’s achievements this year, reflecting the council’s effective performance and its improvements, suggesting the city be more creative and resolute in implementing administrative reforms to elevate the competitiveness index in all aspects on the basis of the Constitution and laws.
Next year, Hanoi should continue measures to stabilise the macro-economy and fulfill set targets for economic growth and social welfare, Chairman Hung said.
He urged the delegates to evaluate and analyse the situation, address shortcomings and figure out the causes, as well as identify key tasks and feasible solutions to realise set targets for 2016.
He also asked the city to review the council’s performance in the 2011-2016 tenure, effectively implement newly adopted laws, and prepare for election of the 14th tenure NA and the 2016-2021 tenure People’s Council at all levels.
The five-day session will review the implementation of the city’s socio-economic, national defence and State budget plans, devise measures to realise the plans set for 2016, and discuss and make decisions on several authorised issues.
