The State leader sincerely asked after oil workers, expressing his sympathy for the existing difficulties being faced by the oil sector as a consequence of constant reductions in world oil prices.
He voiced his hope that the world economy would continue growing in the new year, thereby giving a boost to development of the oil and gas industry.
President Sang asked the sector to research and recommend the building of a mechanism to operate the oil price stabilisation fund in order to balance income and ensure the living standards of its workers while in difficulty.
He noted that oil and gas exploitation holds particular meaning regarding economic development and the political task of safeguarding the national sea and island sovereignty.
Vietsovpetro is the backbone of Vietnam’s oil and gas industry and its development is a proof of the traditional relations and co-operation between Vietnam and Russia, the President added.
Vietsovpetro currently has 15 affiliates with 6,800 employees. The venture exploited over 5.1 million tonnes of crude oil in 2015 and provided for the mainland more than 1.4 billion cubic metres of gas, bringing in an estimated US$2.19 billion in total revenues.
