Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung made the remark while chairing the 63rd meeting of the Central Council for Emulation and Reward, which was held in Hanoi on March 1 to review the council’s operation in 2015 and devise tasks for 2016.
PM Dung, who is also chairman of the council, requested that in 2016, the council’s operations focus on realising its assigned political tasks, and safeguarding national independence and sovereignty.
The council was asked to carry out emulation movements following specific targets, honour good people and good deeds, and duplicate exemplary models of the movements.
The council’s members were asked to review legal documents on emulation and reward and make proposals to amend, supplement and perfect them.
It is also necessary for the council to better its activities and increase its responsibility in inspecting the implementation of policies and laws on the work.
Positive adjustments in both forms and content have been made to emulation movements in line with the real situation of each ministry, sector and locality.
The movements have attracted enthusiastic participation from centrally-run cities and provinces, and people from all walks of life.
