Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuc elected as Prime Minister
The National Assembly (NA) on April 7th announced that 90% of NA deputies had agreed to elect Nguyen Xuan Phuc as the Prime Minister. A resolution on the election of the new Government leader was also approved by 96% of the deputies.

In the swearing-in ceremony, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc thanked the lawmakers for voting for him.
On his oath, he vowed to absolutely be loyal to the fatherland, the people and the constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and make concerted efforts to fulfill the tasks assigned by the Party, the State and the People.
Addressing the NA, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc affirmed that being elected as the Prime Minister was both his great honour and great responsibility assigned by the Party, State and people.
He also pledged to work with Government members to listen to voters’ ideas and aspirations; mitigate weaknesses; make efforts to successfully realise socio-economic development plans; accelerate comprehensive renewal process and international integration; focus on administrative reform, creating favourable environment for investment and business; increase the efficiency of the prevention of corruption and wastefulness.
“I commit myself to resolutely struggle for protecting the national independence, sovereignty and territorial integration, and continuously care for people’s prosperous and happy lives as well as ensuring security for the people,” he said.
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuc, 62 years old, was born in the central province of Quang Nam. He was Director of the Quang Nam - Danang provincial Department of Tourism; the provincial Department of Planning and Investment; Deputy Secretary of the Quang Nam provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Quang Nam provincial People’s Committee; Government’s Inspector Vice General; and Minister – Head of the Office of the Government. He is PCC member terms X, XI and XII; Politburo member terms XI and XII; and NA deputy term XI and XIII.
